Admission rules

 

Enrollment:

Master studies in Humanitarian Action offered by the University of Warsaw are part of the Network on Humanitarian Action (NOHA) Joint Master Programme.

All applications must be made on-line on the NOHA website (http://nohanet.org/) where you can find all application forms as well as detailed information about the admission procedure and deadlines for applications.

Applications MUST include the following documents:

1. Certified copy of Diploma and, if available, Diploma Supplement (if not in English, please attach an official translation),
2. Certified copies of academic transcripts (if not in English, please attach an official translation),
3. Curriculum Vitae (Europass model: http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/en/documents/curriculum-vitae),
4. Photocopy of a valid passport (only the main pages),
5. 2 reference letters (in English).

Admission rules:

The NOHA Consortium undertakes a pre-selection procedure based on fulfilling formal requirements by the applicants (application completeness), and subsequently transfers to the University of Warsaw all applications which stated UW as a home university. The Interfaculty Admission Committee reviews all applications.

Candidates seeking the admission must have completed level first or second cycle degree - Bachelor, Master, Engineer or equivalent. They also should be able to present proof of language proficiency in English on a C1 level or better (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages - CEFR).

Selection criteria include motivation, academic qualifications, language skills, research and professional experience. Practical experience in the area of humanitarian action in governmental, inter-governmental and/or non-governmental organisations and institutions is valued but not mandatory.

The candidates will be assessed by the Interfaculty Commission (Faculty of Law and Administraction and Faculty of Political Science and International Studies) on the basis of:

• Ÿ  academic qualifications (0-25p),
• Ÿ  language skills (0-10p),
• Ÿ  professional and research experience (0-10p),
• Ÿ  motivation statement (0-5p).

 

In case of candidates applying for Erasmus Mundus scholarship there is another scoring system regulated by the European Commission.

The final result is the sum of points awarded for each criterion. The top 25 candidates are qualified to the programme. The remaining candidates are placed on the reserve list.
